A Novel, a Novelist, and a Search for Publication
GRACE AT WAR, an 70,000-word literary/mainstream novel, takes place during the explosive summer of 1970, when sixteen-year-old Grace Hart, traumatized by her boyfriend’s suicide, emulates the locked-down emotions of her combat-veteran brother, Worth. Their quest to make peace with their shattering memories and losses takes them from upstate New York to Long Island and eventually into the north woods where Grace must face their differences in order to save Worth and herself.
Cute photo mom! Is that the book? I'm sort of glad the cabin boy thing did not work out, since in that case I may not have come about, to borrow a maritime expression.
ReplyDeleteThat's the book! Pop took photos capturing us in our usual pursuits (in an unnaturally tidy house) to show Grandma in CA we were coping. I was, as usual, reading; in Will's case, he was photographed making a salad, go figure!
